Pinckney is located in Putnam Township in the south central portion of Livingston County and a few of miles north of Dexter Township and Webster Township in Washtenaw CountyHamburg Township (east of Putnam) in Livingston County contains many beautiful lakes.

Livingston County has been the fastest growing county in Michigan for about a decade. Washtenaw County has had the lowest unemployment rate in Michigan for about a decade.

Pinckney Michigan High  SchoolPinckney Community Schools is a very good public school district. There are also a number of private schools in the area.

Pinckney Community High School (shown in photo) has a pool. This community pool offers lessons, open swims and is used by clubs for competitive swimming.

Learning how to swim is an important skill in the area because the Pinckney Michigan area is blessed with many beautiful lakes and most of them are available to the public.

Huron River Portage Lake launch rampThe largest public recreation areas near Pinckney are the Pinckney Recreation Area, Waterloo Recreation Area and the Brighton Recreation Area. The Pinckney area is surrounded by parks.

Outdoor recreation is a favorite past-time for residents. The photo to the right shows the launching area for Portage Lake.  Boaters often launch here for their trip on the "chain of lakes". The Huron River connects Portage Lake to a number of upstream lakes (Base Line, Tamarack, Whitewood-Dunleavey, Gallagher, Strawberry and Zukey). Canoers and kayakers will launch upstream and paddle to Portage.
